About Us
Challenges :
Many students face significant academic challenges transitioning from Grade 8 to Grade 9, often struggling to keep up with sudden spikes in complexity. Even students who manage to transition well struggle later during High School(G9-G12) due to steeper increases in complexity.
Our Focus :
At Think Math we focus on building a solid foundation, continuous rigorous learning, and efficient and effective learning through Pre-Learning.
Our Comprehensive Courses :
Math: We offer comprehensive courses [Highschool Prep, G9, G10, G11, G12AF, G12CV] covering all essential Math concepts (Ontario Curriculum) in as little as 10 weeks per course.
English: We use systematic approach in teaching. Each session is three-tiered; 1) Building Foundations : Grammar, 2) Learning Critical Literacy/Effective Writing Skills, 3) Mastering Critical Literacy/Effective Writing Skills.
Pre-Learning :
Many Asian societies practice Pre-Learning for students. Pre-learning allows students to learn the material before the actual school year. Students, already familiar with the material, will be much more likely to succeed during the school year, not only in Math but academically overall. By reducing the academic load on Math, students will be able to accommodate other academic loads efficiently. Pre-learning will also boost students' self-confidence.
Our Aim :
We aim to prepare students with the knowledge and skills to excel in their studies. With Think Math, students will be well-prepared to achieve the academic prowess and grades required for university.
Our Strategy
1. Building Solid Foundation
The complexity of Math grows steeply starting in Grade 9. Academic success in Math is crucially dependent on Solid Foundation. Students cannot succeed in higher-level Math without a strong solid foundation. Think Math focuses on building that foundation through a more personalized learning experience.
Semi-Private Learning Experience: Maximum 1:6 Class Ratio
-
Individualized Attention: more personalized attention to each student and their learning styles, strengths, and weaknesses
-
Enhanced Student Engagement: students will feel comfortable asking questions and participating in class discussions
-
Deeper Learning: in-depth exploration of topics and more interactive learning experiences, fostering a deeper understanding
2. Continuous Rigorous Learning
Repetition and practice are crucial to success.
Everyday Homework: We provide carefully designed homework assignments that allow students to review and apply the lessons learned in class. This practice not only solidifies their understanding but also contributes to the establishment of a consistent and effective learning routine.
Assessments: Continuous and comprehensive review of progress will be administered throughout the course to facilitate a deeper understanding among students and provide valuable feedback on their academic progress. This strategic assessment approach aims to reinforce key concepts, allowing students to gauge their comprehension and receive constructive insights for continuous improvement.
Timely Feedback: Our dedicated staff engages in the important practice of providing feedback to parents regarding their child's progress at Think Math. This professional and proactive approach allows us to keep parents well-informed about their child's academic journey, ensuring everyone is on the same page and working together towards the student's success.
3. Efficient and Effective Learning through Pre-Learning
Boost Self-Confidence: Pre-Learning gives students a head start helping to alleviate stress from an overwhelming academic load during the school year and gain self-confidence
Effective Learning: Students will learn the material during Pre-Learning allowing them to participate fully in in-depth exploration and discussions during the school year effectively solidifying their understanding of the subject even further
Efficient Learning: Students will be required to allocate less time/effort for Math allowing efficient management of time/effort for other academic loads during the school year
